On October 1944 the SS Thomas Nelson (Libertyship) left Biak, New Guinea as part of a Convoy and carrying Supplies and Men from the 345th Bomber Group to Leyte Gulf, arriving in the harbor, near Dulag City, while at anchor it was attacked by a Kamikaze. The attack cost many lives and wounded several other, also nearby ships.
