Blumer was KIA when the Ship Sunk during fights between the American and Japanese Navy in the Battle for Sunda Straight, on March 1, 1942, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

 

Blumer is buried/mentioned at Manila American Cemetery and Memorial  Manila, Metro Manila, National Capital Region, Philippines.
