On November 29th 1942, U.S. freighter Sawokla is sunk by torpedo and gunfire of German auxiliary cruiser Michel (Schiffe 28) at approximately 28°00’S, 54°00’E, about 400 miles southeast of Madagascar, while en route from Colombo, Ceylon, to Cape Town, South Africa.
