The division then invaded Luzon, landing in the Lingayen Gulf area 27 January 1945, and fought its way as a “flying column” to Manila. They Liberated more than 3,000 civilian prisoners at the University of Santo Tomas.

David was at Bataan defending the Bagac-Orion Line, when they capitulated to the Japanese army on 9 April 1942.

The division initially began marching from Pilar, Bataan on what would later be known as the infamous Bataan Death March all the way to San Fernando, Pampanga. They covered about 65 km under intense conditions of heat and brutality from the guards, it is probably that he was found death in a stop from this march, from the conditions.

 

David was pronounced death on 18 July 1945, he is honored with a Bronze Star Medal, POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.
