Charles died on the way home on leave, the C47 plane from Anchorage Alaska to Fairbanks Alaska. Plane went down over Mt. Deception Alaska on Sep. 18, 1944, he is honored with a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.

 

Charles is buried/mentioned at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu County, Hawaii U.S.A.

They were stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Coming home on leave, C47 plane from Anchorage Alaska to Fairbanks Alaska. Plane went down over Mt. Deception Alaska. One month later, No bodies recovered, only plane parts, WHY NO BODIES or DOG TAGS or UNIFORMS? 18 military servicemen and 1 civilian on plane. Still a lot of unanswered questions about this.
